  3. My birthday is coming up next month so may ask for money towards it as I don't want/need anything. This looks cool and being a bloke I love a good gadget and this looks amazing, if it works!!

  7. I have a question...

Are you ever far enough away from a 'normal' charging source that you really need one of these? Power monkey is a lot cheaper and serves its purpose, whereas I wouldn't use this to cook so couldn't see the use.

Great idea, but too many cheaper alternatives for my liking...

  8. I see what you mean. I don't have as stove in my van and I really like the idea if this. I agree there will be very few people who will actually need it. Just a really good idea.

  9. Ive had a play with one:)

You need to keep adding twigs a long time after you have warmed your tinned meal up to get a full charge of your gadget
That in itself isnt a problem but by eck they aint cheap

  10. They had them on the gadget show last year and they looked good then. They were well impressed with them. Yea i know £150 is a bit steep but for a new gadget its got to be worth it.

  11. Can you just add one to the side of any heatsource? I use a Kelly kettle quite regularly, wonder if it'll be of use then?

  12. First point about them is that of course they charge your phone/camera/video/GPS and yes I do go to places where there are not power sources (I wild camp a lot in Scotland) and although you also lose signal occasionally in these places when in the Glens, on the summits you always have a signal and you also have the ability to emergency text anyway from nearly all places, which is a great safety feature when on your own in those kinds of spots.

Second point is that they also require minimal fuel and act like a camp fire too, they recharge their own batteries to drive a fan which makes the flame almost smokeless and very efficient and very easy to light.

Third point is that anything you recharge means carying less batteries (very heavy) and with this stove you don't really need to carry weighty gas or meths.

Only real down side is that it is a little bigger than most and a little bit more weighty but, all of this is easily offset by the benefits.

Finally, i have tried before I buyed and if I sound like I am try to sell them sorry, I'm not but, as a seasoned backpacker I have tried lots of stoves infact probably every type from very minimalist to downright luxury campingand at the moment this is my stove of choice.

  14. Cotswold sell them for £150 and i've got a %20 off discount code for them so £30 off. I think I've talked myself into getting one.
