Recently i went to buy some fish food , it was £7.99 the last time i bought a bag -- two month's ago , i went to pay and the cashier said £9.99 please - i walked out and left it there .

Lou just came back from shopping and said the apple juice she was paying 69p for last week is now a pound .

is this happening everywhere ? , cos if its is i'm gonna ask my boss for a raise , or i soon won't be able live :-

  2. prices have and are going crazy for everything lately.

Jeesie J, you got the words wrong wrong because at the moment is is all about the blledin price tag.

and why is it always 2 for 1 in the supermarkets and not just half the price.

rant over....... for now!!!!! but there might be 2 rants for 1

My mate at work told me his wife has a thing for noticing before and after two for one deal prices , if say tesco's have a two for one deal on a existing product thats say £1 to buy befoore the deal , after the deal its is usually a lot more for a single item .

i think they think we won't notice .

  4. ^^whs^^ Its all about the customer not knowing what things cost last time. Sainsburys "price perception" is their current smoke and mirrors policy.

  7. When I was a lad I went out with threpence halfpenny and got 4 pints and some chips for the way home :p

  8. The 2 for one trick is just how they hike the prices, they do two for a pound then couple of days or weeks later its a pound each when they were never that price anyway. Notice how fairy liquid n stuff like that that used to be 69p, is now £ 1.40 or more and butter  . Crooksters. I always play them at their own game buy when cheap or discounted dont buy at inflated price,or freeze n store when cheap. Remember when you could get a dozen black jacks for a penny ;D

I just think we are being had over and we are too nonchalante to do anything about it.

Prices are going up by loads more than wages.

on thing the price hike has taught me is the fridge/freezer doesn't have to be full, you don't have to do a big shop every week, you can plan a weeks meals and less choice in the cupboards means less waste.

Lidl is where to find the value, not everything is cheap cheap, but if you know your prices and be selective you can save quite a bit, they stock plenty of uk brands now, but some of the German/Polish branded stuff is fine.

  14. I noticed a sink in B and Q for £149, a week later it had gone up to £220 and then in there sale it was reduced to £180 , ask me why i noticed , because i bought the same thing elsewhere for £125 .Also in B and Q i noticed there budget bathroom suite had gone from £149.99 to £199.99 and they were selling a lot more at the new price

  15. Its driving me bonkers

Ive always been a frugal shopper and kept an eye on offers, prices and loss leaders

Nowadays its so complicated and when you only have an hour to do it in and a little un playing up and a nearly teenager moaning its a nightmare

Level playing field is what we need
