1973 Westy. Seen here on Hayling beach, first point of call after her full-body restoration. Back to Manchester later today. 1800 Type 4 engine needs a bit of a spruce-up and the heating restored back to some semblance of operation but that's it for now. Big thanks to Ant Kaye's Airport Bodyshop for making a rather tired (and rusty) VW camper alive again. More photos in the next few days.
My wife's parents live there so we are quite often there but in the Audi usually. My brother in laws garage is in Fareham so we got her done there "mates rates"
What date does your M plate give? I only ask as I've got a May '73 Westy but mine's got the front hinged roof. Another Nerdy/anal Westy question, but what colour is your brake warning light on the dashboard? Mine's clear but most seem to be red. Great looking bus btw
It's a '73 only by manufacturers date (in fact the 20th December so very late '73). The conversion was done in '74 therefore giving it an 'M' plate. That's why it's got a rearward poptop. My brake warning light is red although it's not connected up to anything.
It's the clear cover that seems rare. I can only find red ones. If anyone knows different, I'd be very happy to find out.
Mine hasn't got the cover on it but it is a red light. I wonder whether a PO installed an alarm that they took out.
I thought they should be red My van is originally a dutch van and has the light but im missing the lense Nice bus betsy i do love a stock height westy
I think they suffered from the sun over the years so faded then disolved into dust I was going to just tape mine up and but a rubber blanking plug in the hole but if you know of someone that has them for not silly money Then ill put it back as it should be
