Best service manual for a newbie bay owner.... Help please

Discussion in 'Introduce Yourselves' started by Finnleysdad, Nov 24, 2013.

  1. Hi all just compiling my Christmas list and want to get a service manual for my 79 Bay. I have the Haynes one but fancy something a little more useful to a new guy like me.
Any ideas ....? is the Green Bentley book the one to get ????

    Help please

  2. Bentleys gives the detail that Haynes skirts around.....not that I'm rubbishing it...in fact having both is the best plan in my opinion.

John Muir's "How to keep your VW alive" is brilliant for a newbie. I have that plus the Haynes and Bentley for further details.

  5. Thanks guys appreciated ..

  6. Depends how much your gonna do yourself really. The Bentley book has detail. The how to keep your vw alive book talks my language! Simple!

  7. I agree that the John Muir book is a great read for any newbie, he tells it straight and there is some dry humour (rather impressive for a yank)

  8. Ive got a Bentley manual for my Beetle and it is brilliant!, just ordered one for my Bay Panel van that i don't even own yet!
