Came across a dubbed into English version..toe curlingly embarrassing dialogue. Lost in translation would be an understatement....

 

Its a Pressburger and Powell film I think. It is still a great film either way, though maybe more of a romantic film than war fillum as such .Like a lot of the ones already mentioned, great choice @snotty, from a very good book. Always liked Where Eagles Dare...."Broadsword calling Danny Boy, Broadsword calling Danny Boy ....etc"

 

I like it, I assume a matter of loaf and death with Wallace and gromet was a. Omage to it

I prefer the oldies but a more recent film I rate is Pearl Harbour

 

I always prefer subtitled stuff.

Re Das Boot: The Cruel Sea, which you're bound to have read, is exactly the same story told from the other side. Great book!

 

This being TLB, I'm surprised noone's mentioned "Shaving Ryan's Privates" yet...

i liked the deer hunter , i dont watch many films now i fall asleep

 

Deer hunter is fab. We used to recreate the Russian roulette scene with shook up beer cans., headbands and all... The beer hunter

 

That's a must this Xmas! No-one's mentioned the great escape 2. I wonder why

 

Cross of Iron def worth checking out

Saving Private Ryan <<<<< favourite film, but I would rather watch the box set of BAND OF BROTHERS. Now that's one fantastic tv series. Every emotion you can have is in it.

Band of Brothers was good, and Apocalypse (although a bit weird).
