It seems Steve my mot man is struggling to get my handbrake ubber effective -- says drums are thin and shoes are low , he is trying at this very mo to make them effective but has suggested i buy new drums and shoes even if he succeeds . They are the late drums and shoes , i have priced them up on vwh and justkampers , jk have a complete refurb kit inc drums, shoes and cylinders for £56 ish a side and vwh have drums for £44 and shoes £26 . No brainer really but has anyone bought these from jk , or do you know a better deal . Better still does anyone have any they want to get shot of -- NO , No worrys

Blimey i have been trawling vwh half the morning looking for that :-[ Yes i have it set up already , i think it was my continual moaning at Anna and Nick that got them to finally do it They are very good to me .
confused.com Rang Heritage today as i want new brakes on the back before i use her and was told , the rear brake set Mark put up is'nt in stock and my shoe's are one year only shoe's 72 , i can use regular late drums but the shoe's i should have have a cut out or something -- can anyone enlighten me as to the idiosyncracys of late/early and 72 brake shoe's before i order , its booked in to be done weds , so need to know asap .
Sorted , Paul at vwh was right 72 had a run of one year only rear shoe's , the spreader bar is held in place with c clevis pin and circlip and a cut out is'nt on th shoe where it is on regular post 72 shoe's .
have you tried bigrich(coolair), he's always helpful, and tries his hardest to beat the other prices. worth a punt!
Malc - have you looked at them yourself? Taken a pic? Never order rear brake shoes without seeing for yourself. The bits are interchangeable to a degree and anything could have happened in the last 40 years. Have a look mate and order for what you have. While you are looking, do a finger test on the handbrake lever - sometimes the spreader bar is so worn, the lever hits the hub before the shoes move and bingo no handbrake.
Yes sre . to be fair to paul at vwh he woulfnt let me order yesterday until i did another v sual to day . and he was right i have the one year only type .d
while we are on the subject mine needs the above plus the back plates anyone know where i can pick them up cheap ?
Same problem on mine even after fitting new shoes (mine were GSF but they dont have any just now). Welded the ends of the spreaders up and filed a new, shallower slot in. Backed adjusters off put hubs back on, adjusted back u till just fouling the drums, back off a couple of clicks, adjusted brakes to just touching at 6 clicks and all seems well. Fitted new cables as well o probably wont work too well for a bit as they will need a bit of adjustment. Will post pics as I have 72 only shoes too.
