Saw @art b post on the photo page of his lovely steak n chips.
I love chips but I am a fussy git, tried all methods from Delia to Jamie , Hairy bikers to the odd one Blumenthal?
Done the double and triple cooked, cooled in between but still disappointed.
Best I’ve found by far, and no faffing is McCains “ Gastro triple cooked “ for me they are fab, they are loaded in oil (50/40 :)) including beef dripping, ( southerners may have to google ).
Really crispy golden and take 35 min to cook in th’oven, so a bit extravagant .
Give ‘em a go and report back

  2. Id agree they are very good and thats from a southerner !! ;)

  4. Fyi..
    Mine were cut,
and fried whilst other stuff was cooking..

I took them out of the saucepan of veg oil to prevent them burning...
Then popped em back in for a crisp..

Came out nice and crispy with a soft inner... :)
    Masterchef... My arse... :p

  8. Yea.. its a bit 1970s...

Was a cheap (tasty) peppercorn sauce,
Had a nice dijon and a glass of red too..

    Tbh..
the steaks were less than £2 each...

Cut from a £10 (reduced) joint, minute on each side and rest in a warm oven,
    Rare to medium,

    very nice and tender, :)

  17. Those gastro chips work well in the air fryer. Greta popped round and told me I’m not allowed to use my oven anymore. Something about her childhood. Tbh I wasn’t really listening.
