I don't think you really want to do this, if you did you'd find a way and get on with it, it's not rocket science.
Your not seriously going to filler a seatbelt mount? It’s not going to help, you need some metal in there.
As mentioned further up, the seat belt has been rebolted through the bulkhead, that rust hole looks quite old and rust looks fairly local , though not technically the right way, regarding prescribed area etc.... the way it’s anchored might be ok, if it’s got a decent sized washer or spreader plate on the back of it. Just going to put my tin hat on
Can’t all the rust be stuffed back in like?, it’s got loads of metal in it, Can send you a bag for free, could put some extra where the seat bolt thingy goes because you can’t be too careful.
So if the seatbelt mount is moved why bother? Leave it be until it can be fixed. Where about is the OP? Someone might be able to zot a patch on for him.
Why bother with aquasteel/paint/filler? Stabilise it so it doesnt get worse, stop water getting in, less noise from better half. Where abouts? Arsenal, not to far from Beetlemania, but they are shut. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I couldn’t be further away! Bugger. So it’s not going to rot worse anytime fast. That’s taken decades. But if it gets you a quiet life from the other half, then some p38 and a quick tidy will work. Don’t mind me I’m just an old bugger thinking about safety you’ll be alright for the now but the sound of it.
Crocs (or bivvy shoes) are the fashion go to of late bay ownership apparently..... you could lose half your toes in flippys!!!
Surely that can’t be safe mounted through the bulkhead? There’s nothing structural there, unless it’s had a plate welded on the other side
I would not be able to say with certainty so I would stick to VW style large thick plates turned up for strength along 2 edges in the original design locations. Technically a new seatbelt fixing method requires you provide some ministry testing lab a vehicle shell for them to hang 1500KG (?) of weights on your fixing and accept the shell may be destroyed by the testing. The MOT man gives it a quick Tug. These worry me bit, again my view based on not a lot is that these are meant to be used in conjunction with said plates, not as a replacement. Can't see these not ripping through used straight on 1mm bodywork though of course they're handy for the non-metric thread (UNF?).
