    Removed old crimp and fashioned new crimp from the cylindrical end of a red 6mm spade connector :)

    It has a 'ring' crimped on the other end that goes onto the lever on the top of the tin.

    Privately, I suspect someone thought they could do a better job than VW's R&D :confused:
