Bay side window replacement

Discussion in 'Restorations' started by normuk, Dec 19, 2015.

  1. Our 76 bay is now resprayed (see photo) and we got the front and rear windows in but struggling with the sides - both the factory formed and conversion cut outs. New seals and chrome strip insert are a bggr to fit. Anyone got any tips?

    Panel van conversion yes?
Rubber onto van then glass into rubber carefully working round with a blunt instrument, then chrome strip warmed up in a bucket of hot water then leave a bit of excess and let it cool/ shrink before final trim to size.

I'd think about fitting the side cover first, you might not get it fitted with the window seal in the way.

  5. Last 3 took 2 hours altogether for 2 of us.

1, synthetic lube in the rubber, 2,rubber in opening (with a bit of hairdryer heat for the corners), 3,glass in rubber (as best you can), 4, use tool and insert trim at bottom middle, 5, hairdryer heat just in front of the tool and in it goes, 6, a bit of puhing from the outside and suckers on the inside to align the glass as you go.
