The ball joint isn't fully home, wire brushing and a drop of lube on the arm makes all the difference when fitting the joints, it's not going to fall out orale much odds, but the only way to make it flush is to pull it out straighten the flange and press it back in with a bit of lube, you probably would be better using a new joint if you wanted to do that, I don't think you need to

  2. I've got the ball joint back out, it was really stuck fast. I've heard that once used (fitted and removed) ball joints shouldn't really be fitted again?
    I'll guess i'll buy another.
Just don't want to press another in if the tool is out of true. (£18 every time I mess one up)
So bluething comparing his tool to mine will be helpful. <<< That doesn't sound right does it.

  3. i still don`t think you can beat using a press to get the in or out .....noticed on a few of the pictures there are a few hacksaw cuts and grinder marks in the arm trying to get them out which IMHO isn`t a good thing ...a press will always put them in square ...

  4. @bluething Sorry to be a pest, did you have a look at your C clamp. Is mine out of alignment. Do you think I might of bent it out of shape? Many thanks.

  5. I heated my arms up a bit with a blow torch seemed to help them pop in easier.

Same tool as you and worked great

  6. Hello, sorry not been back here for a bit as I was working all weekend. mine has some movement when it's fully wound in but not so much that the thred is nearly touching the side as in your pic. mine has about 3/4mm clearance. That could be your issue. i cant imagine you would have bent it. when putting them in with all the spacers, the thread is only wound in a few threads clear of the end. I think the threads in the cast part are probably at fault. either cut too coarse or not cut straight in the first place

  7. I have contacted the seller of the tool kit and he has asked me to send it back, hopefully I will get my money back
The two ball joints that I have ruined, Oh well that's a learning experience, stuff happens.
