i have a split one which i belive is now a mot fail, can these be easily replaced? they don't look as easy as a car track rod end type affair, does anyone just do the rubber?

  2. is it trailing arm or tierod end?

the tie rod end is just a nut and pop out the ball joint from the taper then pull the spring clip off swap the boot then refit as above.
the trailing arm is the same but needs removing from the spindle and will need tracking and camber reseting

  4. I replaced a split gaiter on the tie rod from the steering box. Pig to get the rod off but not too difficult tp replace the gaiter. I think I got mine from Cool Air.

  5. Heritage do the rubbers and the retaining ring

  9. if its the bottom trailing arm boot no need to reset tracking and camber but needs a bit of brute force to split the ball joint from the spindle.

the boot is about a fiver from most of the usual suppliers

  10. Good idea martin

Less people will be using pickle fork splitters with these new mot regs coming in lol

  17. Joycee failed mot yesterday with a split ball joint rubber. Had it sorted today, I heard you couldn't get the rubbers, so bought a new balljoint and knicked the rubber off it.

Had to buy a new rubber and sleeve for the anti-roll bar aswell. One of them was held on by a hose clip.

Got my ticket now though. :D
