Bad Rubber ( again)

  1. Moan time, changed my inner track rod end this afternoon after advise last August from mot ,slight play. anyway last year changed the fixed track rod after both boots split, and slight play. while underneath noticed the bloody boots on the fixed track rod have started to perish already, I am constantly getting peed off with the quality of repro rubber in suspension joints, the track rod end I took off today is prob 40 year old and not split so will swap it to the fixed one, but come on it ain't good. I'm not gonna say where they purchased because to be honest it's not their fault ,all the suppliers seem to have issues with " German quality"', it's just a real bummer, I have spoken before on this issue on threads, best thing I ever did was buy Genuine VW CV boots after changing 2 sets in as many years... what can you do .....moan over

The suppliers saying this isn't their fault is crap.

The notion that there is zero discussion between wherever this stuff comes from and them simply isn't true.

The gap in the market is charge more for genuine quality kit that doesn't die within a year...someone needs to fill it rather than this collective shoe gazing.

  3. yes I paid an awfull lot more for Genuine Vw Boots, and don't even go there with them repro ball joint boots, they are crap.Fit like a glove on a chickens lip

  4. Moons speaks the truth. It's an issue for the supplier. Lost count of the number of times I've heard "well, this is news to us..." I don't believe it. They're well aware that some products are deficient. It's not the customer's job to QA this stuff.

Rubber in particular seems to be a problem, because - I suspect - parts are simply made of the wrong compound.

  5. yes , def wrong compound, it's a worry.. you can see suspension joints boots, what about engine seals you can't see.. that could be disastrous.

I doubt there's much rubber in it, what there is is probably recycled.

Rubber content makes longevity...it's not like cv joints see the wear front wheel drive ones do.
