Presumably that’s electronic , but should be fine, any coil should do

  4. Just found some paperwork , it`s a B2L if that means anything ??

  5. You need the proper glow plug, if that’s what you mean. About £20 - £30, if you have a Google.

  6. No it's a spark plug on this one..

They have a little blue box sits next to the ecu thingy.. takes a green/brown wire and a brown and a white wire on a plug

At least the fan spins and the pump pulses.. not a total write off yet [IMG]

On about page 20 of google I found some for sale in a little garage in Austria, I rang and spoke via the son who spoke English, they said they had loads, he sent me 3 NOS for a £10, Someone was after one on the EB so I give him the number, next thing he was selling them on eBay for£100

  11. Well, I mis-spoke ;). The B3L seems to be the only BxL heater that uses the glow plug/sparky combo, maybe because of the higher heat rating? The rest just use a boggo glow plug. Part number is 20 1643 01 00 11...and they're pricey (presumably because they're uncommon?).

What exactly isn't happening? Worth checking continuity on the plug (glow plug low ohms, sparky bit open-circuit, if they're separate). The early BxLs haven't got much brains, so can't tell you what's wrong with them.

I wouldn't think just bodging something on is going to work. If Vespas/Lambos don't have a battery, that blue thing is going to need a magneto to function.

  12. Not tried putting petrol through it.. the spark/glow plug warms up ok but didnt want to try if the spark generator wasn't in the system fuel vapours spark etc combos not my favourite play thing.. trying to find the nice sounding Austrian man

Spark generator just seems to build up a chage and spark of it's own accord by the look of it, cant see a 'signal' guess the ECU stops sending current to it when its warm enough on it's own?

  13. Slap it all together, give it a go . The internal flame sensor will shut the ignition off when it decides the heater is lit.

  14. Nah .. just pumps fuel in and fan runs, plug gets hot but no ignition going on...

  15. Do you get 12V on the side terminals (which are presumably the glowplug bit) when it’s trying to light? Resistance across the two side tabs?

  16. yes and it warms up nicely too, I've read few think theirs have run on just glow plug starting, might give it another go next week..

  17. If you've got fuel, just needs lighting! Plug may not be getting hot enough? You could take a chance and just get a B1L glowplug?

  18. It won't light without the spark.

  19. B2L is good if you have one and you're 'parting' it on Ebers B's are petrol (Benzin), D's are diesel.... 2 is KW rating.. L?

Should be a box on the side with a silver ECU box and a blue spark generator inside it.. if you're looking.. :)

    in the meantime...

I found this on eBay ..!

DC 3.6V/4.8V/6V/12V High Voltage Pulse Generator DC 3-11kV Super Arc Module https://ebay.us/chyY18

wonder how long it can pulse for ? I'll get one and try anyway ... might come in useful

  20. I haven`t had chance to get across to the lock up , possibly sometime this week but a bit busy this end ...

I bought the heater as spares/repair with the intention of sorting it out but came across a decent Propex so fitted that in the van , i`d almost forgotten about it !
Interesting to see how the Ebay sparker works out , i presume it`ll give one spark per activation / connection so you may need some trickery to get a `stream` of sparks ... ?
