Been trying to get to the bottom of engine (FI 2.0L) stalling after a few minutes. Using the trouble shooting guide so first checked the auxiliary air regulator. It should be open when cold but it appears half shut. Resistance reads 30ohms as expected. Are they easily refurbished? Thanks, Scott
It is acting as an air feed to partly open the throttle when the engine is cold. At room temperature, it may already be warm enough to partially close. If cold idle speed is low, this could be a cause, but so could a problem with the thermotime switch and the fifth injector. More important, if you connect 12 volts to it, it should close up gradually, modelling the warm-up of the engine over few minutes..
Thanks. Turns out, the issue was with the EGR linkage to the throttle valve being too short and with no EGR valve connected there wasn't enough air supply.
