£5.25 from Heritage. https://www.heritagepartscentre.com/uk/003325381-automatic-governor-housing-sealing-ring.html
Ow much! There's inflation for you - I got mine 7 years ago. Still a snip if it cures the leak, but Brickwerks is more modestly priced.
I think that I've had that o ring and it didn't fit....my final drive it appears is an early one, despite being attached to a late auto box. Im sure my governor cover is deeper than the one in the schematic shown. May be mistaken, will check in the morning.... doesn't explain both Bentleys and Haynes talking about a seal with a lip, not an O ring.
That's how it came back from the auto trans garage in Huddersfield. I was quite impressed, though I had paid them £1200. That was in 2009 and it's worked perfectly ever since, apart from the leaking governor which I noticed 5 years later.
They appear to have missed the filler tube....shody work. Seriously, my box works fine except for the leak, it's been like that for several years, I think I'll live with it until more worrying symptoms appear.
I changed the seals on the drive shafts last year, a surprisingly easy job.( but I was sorting the cv joints at the time.)
Just an update on this thread ( and of course, another question). Just had a call from Martin Lowe in Barnsley....the van is ready and he says it's transformed...we will see when I pick her up. He mentioned that the inner throttle cable was pulling the outer when I pressed the throttle, resulting in reduced carb opening. Does anyone know what outer should be there....is it conduit or flexible ... and can you get the proper system, or will it be a fabrication job ? Later auto gearbox, but fitted to a van that would have originally had an earlier auto box fitted.
From memory where the outer butts up to the bulkhead tin its a conduit, can’t remember there being much flex in it. I do carry a spare inner but hope I don’t have to replace it
