Calling all Aussie Late Bay owners. From about 1975 all the wipers fell to the left, opposite to UK RHD vans. Now I need to replace the windscreen wiper blades. Looking at 'normal' wipers on the JK site, it says 'may not fit Australian Bays'. I guess they mean 'won't fit the ones which fell to the left from 75'. Does anyone know where I can buy some to fit a Late Aussie Bay ('78)?
Is the actual fitting part of the arm - the end of it - different perhaps? Can't see why not otherwise? Unless you want stainless steel posh ones, try the local car spares/accessories shops. Blades are made to be universal with all the fittings in the packet. Just fit the one that's the same as came off and off you go. Or am I missing something? Or you could just replace the rubber blade part?
ooh that's weird! I did a load of work on a westie a couple of years ago and that had wipers that went the wrong way, It had extra pressings on the front panel and blanked pressings where they spindles should go. I wonder if it was an optional extra? I couldn't find any information on the M plate about it, but it wasn't an OZ bus, just imported to Britain by a squaddie I think. Anyway, I changed the front panel and swapped the wiper mechanism and arms to the usual configuration, so I've almost certainly got the arms at my workshop somewhere if you want them?
Are the arms you have the same as the LHD ones, i.e. with hooks at the end of the arms? If so, all you need to know is how long the blades need to be, and you can pick them up from any motor factors. Apart from ones with wind deflectors on them, all wiper blades are non-directional. No need to go to Just Kampers for them. I bought a pair of retrofit universal aeroblades for my van, and even though the blades are the other way around from usual UK fitment, they work fine. I'll email Billy at Gday Kombis later and see if he answers - reckon they must have a demand for them there
