Just bought new discs, pads and calipers so will be attempting a complete brake change in the next few days, nice new brakes are always good.

After this is to renew the suspension all round, feeling slightly soggy, question is:

Do i lower the car by 40mm all round as these are fairly boat like anyway and how much does that put your insurance up by.

  2. That audi 2.2 lump is bullet proof!! Nice motor . I look at how much u can spend for a modern focus yawn and u can get a tidy nice drivin motor like this for a whole lot less withbetter build quality

Very nice. I was talking car rubbish with a friend and we mentioned the Audi 100. Where have they all gone?? Very nice one you have there too.

  4. Cheers guys

I was looking at a focus funny enough, i liked it but insurance was huge, why i dont know, also golf's and volvo 850's, then i thought 'go classic', i was looking at MGB's and Dolomite's then this popped up 1 mile from me, it fits the bill although juicy but the feel and quality over come that.

Where have they all gone? Still a few about but the scrappage scheme and 'A' model Audi's put the 80 90 100 200 in a field to rot or the scrap yards. Shame really as they are a great car with great engines that seem to run for along time, when Audi built a decent original car(s).

  5. Very nice. 8)

I've been driving past this daily for the past 6 years:

Not a turbo (just a 1.8 i think) but still 100% solid. Been sat on the same garage forecourt. Was for sale for £300 in 2006.

  6. worth buying if it passes an MOT dude

Mines currently knackered, HUGE air lock in brakes after caliper and master cylinder change, been off road almost 4 weeks.

Never come across anything like it

  7. You tried pressure bleading them with a gunson kit or similar?
Could be a duff brake hose somewhere thats finally given up its fight.

  8. Tried that, 2 x pressure bleed kits

    Its had:

    4 disc/pads
    4 calipers
    2 rear carriers
    4 hoses
    new copper pipe
    new master cylinder

Apparently you have to pre fill the calipers and bleed before attaching the hose, then keep brake pedal depressed to floor, then pressure bleed.

I followed haynes manual which is apparently wrong???? so now i have massive amounts of air trapped in the calipers and system, strip down and try again.
