Arthur's first wedding duty!

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by yorkshirecampers, Nov 5, 2011.

  1. Well after a very stressful 18 or so hours, Arthur managed to deliver his bride safely and on time to her wedding.

I'd offered him out to a friend from work (before I'd realised the wedding was over 150 miles away!) who was desperate to have one but couldn't afford to pay the rental prices. Unfortunately we had some clutch/ gear issues the night before which resulted in a mad dash to the garage in the morning and me not turning up with as miuch time to spare as I'd have liked.

I managed to give the boy a quick scrub with a bottle of water and dishcloth from the local 24/7, and threw some flowers on the dash and around the cab along with haphazardly hanging some ribbons!

The bride absolutely loved it, and so did the groom and all the guests. The official photographer has lots of shots which he said he would be willing to share with me if I do decide to set up a website for wedding hire, so can't wait to see them.

Here's a few hurried shots of my own from yesterday!

(should really have practised with the ribbon first, would have done a better job with more time!)

  5. Good heavens. Your staff seems to have forgotten to shine the hubcaps. ;)
    Looks great though.
    Was it fun?
Was the bus something borrowed, something blue, or both?
What a great picture of them laughing so hard. The garter shot is cute too, but laughing pix are always instant classics.

  6. Congratulations for getting the bride there in time despite your troubles.

  12. Good on ya Yorkshire. That's deserves a karma anyday of the week.

  13. Thanks everyone.

I think I would have enjoyed it more if it hadn't been so far away and we didn't have so many clutch problems the night before/on the day. As it was I wondered whether I was going to die of hypothermia on the way - it was a black tie do so I was in a knee length floaty frock, high heels and my chauffeur hat ;D :shiver:

I did say I'd happily come home on the back of a flatbed provided I got her there on time, and as it was I managed to make it all but the last 400 yards home at around 11pm when I had to admit defeat to a hill and a clutch that just wouldn't go anywhere.

They loved the little personal touches - I have lots of little picture frames in the van which I had filled with pictures of the couple

Would definitely do it again - but within a 50 mile radius and with all 5 gears next time ;)

  14. Well done - the pics look fab.

I'm so glad you made it!
