i am lenient as long as it is not dangerous as i know what some testers are like they can be very picky and a right pain in the arse!

 

Don't worry i know what you mean, I did my apprenticeship on old mgb's and jensen's so have had my fair share of vintage car experience! ;D

 

i think having a proper mot is a good thing but i also think if the tester knows you are an enthusiast and you will do the job then that is fair, obviously if things are dangerous then fail is fair comment but these places that fail for summat that is stupid pee me off, as i say my mate will pass most stuff but some of the stuff on my van he isn't sure on, years ago i had a proper dodgy mate who gave me mot's over the phone and i just fetched them and paid without him seeing the car back in the good old days when there was no smoke test and no computers.
