Wordpress gets another vote for me. I have a few sites (business stuff) that all run on wordpress. You can get the app for iphone/android or tablets so you can update anytime
Thanks everyone - will check out Wordpress and Adsense and take Poptop's advice and link it to my signature. Can't wait to see my bank balance go ballistic.
I Started it as a sort of permanent memory thing for my book. A sort of bullet point and back up. I have had 25000 hits. I don't make a lot of money really. The book thing is on the back burner, so I don't bother with the blog as much as I did.
Thanks for all the blog advice - have taken most of it and started sickbaydays.com I know it's all very 90's but it's been good fun. Just waiting for my bank balance to explode now.
@Sick Boy I did enjoy reading your latest update... But "The single most irritating thing about the French is that when you address them in French they often reply in English..." In touristy places like La Rochelle ,Paris ,Bordeaux etc ,it is good for the staff to parlez Anglaise ,they are doing it because most tourists from England can only string a few words together... My 18 year old speaks good French ,but still has an accent (been in full time french education 10 years)and it is difficult not to be too allo allo.... Go off the beaten track in a village restaurant and you will not have a choice to parlez French...
Not much - there are various ways, you sell space or get paid if people go from your site to the advert's site and if they buy something. I get paid in Amazon vouchers. Best outfit to use is Adsense. Best keep your day job.
Just been on - congratulations on getting set up. Nice pictures and really like the theme you have chosen, (may pinch it!) Good luck.
As everyone else has said start with a free WordPress.com then if you like it / want to do more you can move it on their paid version or onto separate web hosting. Don't expect to make much cash though with simple AdWords unless you get a very large readership - a lot of the time it pays more to sign up to affiliate programmes so instead of getting paid when people look or click on your blog as per AdWords you get paid a % of the sale price of items IF someone buys something on Amazon after they clicked a link on your site. I have been doing WordPress based web sites and affiliate stuff for over 10 years now so feel free to message me here if you want to know more. Enjoying reading yours so far @Sick Boy
I've only just got started, been reading up on blogging to date. I'll see about paid ads later once I get going
