I've been looking for ages & found this one:- http://gowesty.com/ec_view_details.php?id=3685&category_id=&category_parent_id= Trouble is it costs the same to get it to the UK with shipping. I done a bit of hunting & came up with this:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160667060246?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_2181wt_952 A set of 4 came to £54 delivered to the UK. Now you can fit a normal roof rack.
chris put a pic up from the links dude please Otherwise i end up lost in a web of open tabs and get confused and turn the computer off
The only thing that would concern me about those is that you are relying on the fibreglass poptop shell to be strong enough to take the weight of whatever's on the rack. Less of an issue when you are using the metal gutters, as they are part of the structure of the van, but I'd be concerned about 35-40 year old fibreglass.
My viking has been drilled in the past and even though the holes are glassed and filled it just cracks out after a while. Wouldnt have been so bad if the holes were near the bottom and they had used high lift towers for the bars but there up near the top.
Hey Chris,, I saw these on a couple of superb looking busses recently, one was an Aussie bus in Oz and not sure where the other one was but may have been stateside, so have been keeping my eyes peeled for them. Now that you`ve done all the hunting down etc (I`m not capable) : If you`re looking for volunteers alah a small group buy, then I`ll be the first puppy as I think they`re mint. ^^^ thoes guys don`t sound too keen though : But I should imagine that their busses are in pristine condition up to the state of mine ;D Mine is a rolling resto and I plan to fit things to him, and take things off and change them until I got things how I want them , then I might think about a coat of paint, ^-^ Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Trouble is ,,,,, I`d have to wash him then,, ^-^
A trailer is no good I want it to carry a couple of Kayak's. My fibre glass is mint so I'm confident it will hold, & because the holes are the other side of the canvas leaking isn't an issue. Once they come I'll take some close up pics of them fitted.
All very scary mary, just looks like halfords roof bars, will eventually knacker your mint roof i think.
