Hi all The transparent plastic "B" cover on my dashboard brake warning light is knackered though the light still works. It looks pants though and i am keen to get a replacement. Do you have a spare one or know where I can source one e.g. new bit of plastic or replacement whole warning light? My bus is a 1977 USA import Westy (not sure that makes much difference mind). The light is the one between the speedo and rev counter in the photo. The knackered bit of plastic is in the second photo. Cheers Phil
you could try Vehicle wiring Products...they won't have an original, but I know they do a range of warning lights and switches which have interchangeable, coloured lenses and motifs...might be worth a try. Look at Warning lights from the main index, or Rotary switches under switches (nb// if you're after a quality switch for other applications these are excellent and look in keeping with the bus )
Sorted! I got two different replacement warning lights from Vehicle Wiring Products but was a bit concerned that there are 4 terminals on the VW one as it does more than use handbrake warning. As the light worked and it was just the plastic insert that was knackered, I cut the end off the cheapest of the two I got, slightly enlarged the hole in the face of the original light with a dremel and it fits and looks spot on. The part reference of the one that worked was L1249 and it only cost £2.54! Photos below so you can see how it looks. This is how the lights look before junior hacksaw action, and then after cutting and leaving about a 5mm stub to fit into the original light body. The finished article - looks better in real life too (like it was supposed to be this way)
