anyone good at instrument binnacle wiring?

  1. Just fitted my cog in my speedo drive (thanks again Mick!) and just putting the wiring back in place for the instrument binnacle.

Put the wires back in the same position as they came off, but something is puzzling me a bit.

So, imagine I am sitting in the drivers seat looking down onto the instrument pod as I am putting it back in the bus (so everything is the opposite way round to if I was looking from the back of the pod).

    With me so far?

There are 2 connections at the top of the pod on the left side (i.e. the right side of you were looking at the back - you getting it?). The one on the left says G below it, but has a brown/white wire going to it and the other one has a + sign below it but has a black wire going to it, which is linked to another spade connector going to the case, so obviously earth.

Would you not expect these wires to be the other way round? I made detailed notes so don't think i've put them on the wrong way round, but wanted to make sure before I reconnect the battery.

Also, on mine there is a red lamp at the top of the binnacle with and earth wire & a red wire going to it - the red wire has been cut - is this standard fitment or is it because my bus is from Sweden as don't remember this on my last late bay.

    Cheers.

  3. Gotcha - cheers Matty.

  4. cheers - mine is slightly different to all of the wiring pictures I've found on line, but think i've got it all back together now.

Wait & see what happens when I turn the key.

    Cheers
