Anyone ever used one of these?

I've used something similar to start an old diesel generator.

 

on go karts in the 70s. Fond memories….

Yes you found the picture! Despite the sepia tint, I think that was about 10 years ago.. I think I must be somewhere outside the picture to the right.

I seem to remember one of the problems was that hauling on the rope dragged the engine around as well, as the T1 engine is so light..

I think I was still quite drunk after Friday night in the bar so I didnt risk a go..

Passed a couple of hours though - great entertainment and yes , it was Simon's engine. Seem to remember @Merlin Cat having that T4 in the background and having fun trying to get the "classic" awning up ?

2 different engines at different techys, the strap didn’t work but the engine on the pickup did, shot a snail at someone’s groin iirc

 

I remember me and you trying to start one on the floor at techenders
The plastic shot glass we had petrol in to tip down the carb melted and stuck to my fingers.
