Anyone ever had new bushes on a Passat?

  1. Ok, Listen to this little shocker.

Took my car in for it 's MOT today. It failed on worn bushes on front wishbones and worn bushes on the front ball joints.

Its an 06 Passat Tdi estate. 96k on the clock so I wasn't surprised the bushes had gone.

    What did surprise me was...................£780

Am i living in some weird parallel universe or is this a rediculous amount of money

    Anyone else had similar done?

    Mark.

  2. I did mine for the mot last year apparently they are a common fail on the passat and the audi a3 i think it cost me about £300 plus doing the work myself

  4. Cheers. So i guess my price which includes VAT and MOT sounds about right.

Makes me feel better as that price seemed a total rip off but from what you say it isn't.

    Thanks

I'm thinking this is on the high side,

A pair of wishbones with ball joints and all bushes can be had for about £130 and would take a couple of hours max to fit, + MOT £50,

Either they've fitted ultra expensive full retail genuine arms, (doubful) or they've pulled your pants down here.

  6. I didnt use genuine vw parts either so saved a bit there

My wheel bearings are starting to rumble now so they will need doing next mind you my passat is on about 170000 miles

I bought it cheap but the buggers starting to cost me now and it aint easy on juice either being a 1.8 20v petrol

If i can ever raise the cash ill be downsizing to a polo diesel

the arms are £100 each genuine and well worth the extra money if your keeping hold of it, 2 hours a side maybe 3 hours for both sides so its not to silly a price
