Any structual engineers on here?

I am putting a velux in the roof...



Looks a bit complicated....

I want to take a chunk out of the left A frame ,unfortually the chimney is resting on it....

Now , I am thinking because the chimney goes through the roof it can never fall over

does this make sence?

 

I did structural mechanics on my building management course, so I'm probably over qualified for this.

Surely the a frame is being supported by the chimney, if you remove it the roof may not be fully supported

Technically, I believe it's called "partially collapsed", but double apex sounds better
