  6. That's right, blame it on autocorrect ;)...

Our chemistry teacher used to do that expanding snake thing (plenty of smoke). Unfortunately, I can't remember what chemicals he used.

  8. The flaming snake.
Sand in a bowel, lighter fluid, mix sugar and baking soda, put on the sand and set on fire.
I wanted to do that one. But been told no fire. Several times so i take the hint.

  9. No fire or bangs? How are they going to learn about chemistry? I despair.

  10. Try Hydrogen Peroxide 30% mixed with blood!

  11. That would be impressive

  12. It's only because a child said about a volcano today. So muggings has to make one. Don't forget most are only 4 yrs old so a fizz and pop, They will all get excited.

  13. Sodium chlorate and sugar, they'll be even more excited

Worth getting a quote for rebuilding the classroom first, tho'

  15. Hydrogen Peroxide 35% + washing up liquid + red food colouring then throw in sodium iodide and watch it go. The sodium and hydrogen produce oxygen gas which will get trapped in the soap and create a red foam explosion!

    What these guys:

My wife has just been doing this experiment with her class. Heather says to not add water, use clear/distilled vinegar so the food colouring shows when you add it after. Try with and without washing up liquid for two different textures.

I asked my chemistry teacher once how the IRA made their bombs...he told me :)

So...I made the mix...put it in a birds custard tin with a couple of air bombs in for.good.measure ,wrapped it all in a couple of rolls of insulation tape , made a match head fuse ....buried it in my mates back garden...lit the fuse and watched from inside as all hell let loose...absolute carnage...
We scarpered , the police were called leaving my mates dad to literally pick up.the pieces ..we got away with a thick ear off my mates dad...this was 32 years ago, the police back then said could be looking at terrorism charges , I reckon we'd be locked up if we did it nowadays ...

  18. Barbecue lighter fuel for the slow burn. I once had an English teacher who was dyslexic, we all got spelling tests wrong.

  19. Use a thinner tube to get greater pressure or more force/acceleration - measured in Newton/metres or Pascals

  20. I had to do this recently with good results. Use all the above, but without the water. Also use clear vinegar.
