Any coilover experts?

Flipped spindles which keep the bump stops which after adjustment stopped any rubbing. The roll bar stayed where it was. Standard length shocks etc. It's a good way of doing it because it's easily reversible but it was too low so in the end I put it back to stock height.

My ARB hit too many things and snapped, it was bent back until it hit the steering pin housing.

It was then I discovered that because by that time I had the 2 times stiffer coilover suspension, it didn't roll too much and I preferred the motion on rough tracks as the nose of the bus actually stays more level with fully independent front suspension as wheels dip into potholes or hit bumps.
So it has stayed off for maybe 8 years now.

No ARB seems to pass the MOT, I am sure a broken one or bits left behind would fail.

So an improvement then, from stock, Mike?

I think it was an improvement from where it was when I bought it. I find stock much more worrying cornering too fast, feels more like understeer.

How can you say that when you've never had stock suspension?

But I have driven a stock bus fast..

Me too, and lowered ones. In my experience the stock ones are more inclined to keep all the rubber on the road. They feel like they lean a bit but really it's just because you're high up.

  8. ^this. Can't say I've had issues at stock height. Van leans a bit, but it has quite supple suspension.

Lowering invariably seems to lead to a variety of disasters.

  9. As above , stock is fine unless you want to set a personal roundabout record in which case you've chosen the wrong weapon...

  10. And better ground clearance than your average 4x4. Perfect for bumpy fields

It’s deceiving. Seating position can make it feel stranger around corners, as you sit on the front wheels, not behind them, like in a conventional vehicle.
The tyres also play a part in that deceiving feeling, too, I find.

I found that lowering, made it a better vehicle on even roads, though. But it’s no good as the vehicle it’s designed to be. Off road, or more uneven roads, at least.

In what way? Mine's stock and drives fine. Decent tyres & shocks, steering set up properly.

    Yes.
    So is mine.
But lowered, it was even more like a car,as there was Minimal sway, compared to a stock height bus like yours and mine. I guess you would have had to have a go driving it, to sort of know what I mean.
Around roundabouts and twisty roads, it was great.
