Another stupid question , rear spring plates

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Baybug, May 24, 2012.

  1. Ive took the rear swing plate of and moved it up 1 spline from we're I marked , the plate was sitting on the bottom on the mount before I stared and now it's up by 20 mm off the plate now I no its going to move but is this right or is it too high . Told you it's was a stupid question :)
Just thinking if anyone has done this before what did they end up with as I don't want to build it all back up and not be able to get the wheels on . Cheers ash [IMG][IMG][IMG]

  2. yep thats right, but you will need to remove those bump stops now

  3. You saying that I was just fitting the rear swing arm and hub and it's hitting the bump stops , as long as I can get the wheels on and off and it's lower I'm happy cheers dude

  4. One other thing how much or all off the bump stops do I take off !

  5. as you have lowered the vehicle by rotating the spring plate, the spring plate will siy in a different place now
when you put the wheel on and lower the bus off the stands it will sit on or near the stops. when you go over a bump it will rebound off the stops and rattle your fillings out of your teeth!
just pop the stops off whilst its jacked up, it will be 35-40mm lower now

  6. Cheers dude most helpfull :) I'll build it all back up now

    It'll be 65mm lower actually.
You do still need bump stops, just not all of them. Cut the last blob off.
And you will be able to get full size standard wheels/tyres on/off as normal.

2 splines is where the fun starts...

  8. Cheers zed do you think that looks right for one spline I've gone over it a dozen times just to make sure ?
