Another registration/historic question

  1. Sorry guys another historic tax thread. A bit of a twist thou :)

As some of you will know, we are just carry out some work to get the can through its mot, so then we can register it and tax it.

Question is, the vans a 1974, so it's going to be mid April probably before its MOTD, so do we try and get it on historic tax, or pay for 6 months and claim it back. Think we are probably going to tax it then claim back 5 months or so. Don't want to over complicate the registration process, we would like to get it on the road as soon as possible.

We have old tax forms etc for the van from usa. Any info will be appreciated.

So long as you can prove the build date I'd register it correctly from the outset.
If it's tax free, register it as tax free. Save any extra hassle!

  3. Yeah I suppose your right, I can imagine it been a right ball ache, where if we just taxed it and claimed it back I can imagine it been smoother, we have the American title etc, so might not be too bad.
