Another EV concept that looks a bit like a bay..

  1. Seems every other EV start up designs a new multipurpose vehicle from the ground up and ends up with something that looks a lot like a bay.. there's another new one just popped up. https://electricbrands.de/ebussy/

Looks interesting. Has some very strong claims in terms of solar charging, range and pricing. As with all of the other similar concepts, i won't be getting too excited until we see a proper showroom ready driving vehicle - its way too easy to create cgi and make it look good - need to see a real vehicle please!>?

If i have a spare 5 mins tomorrow i'll do a photoshop of it slammed on fuchs, just for fun. :)

I seriously doubt they will get a viable range from purely electric. The ID buzz has been touted for a few years, but Vw seem to be holding the launch back for some reason, I'm guessing it's because they're having issues with it.

  4. It’s a stopgap til they can mass produce hydrogen in a cost effective manner anyway, then things will get interesting. As for looks, the bay is iconic as it’s a creature of its time, that EV thing just looks fugly!

Looks like something Lego would produce

  6. ^ ID buzz is taking longer to get released 'cos the ID3 needs to happen first (golf sized) as this will be the bread-and-butter money spinner car.. and its had a whole bunch of issues apparently.

  7. Funnily enough, they actually say something similar on their web site:
"The eBussy has been developed according to the "Lego principle". Detached from the chosen chassis variant, you can adapt your eBussy to your usage needs easily and quickly and as often as you like."

Lets face it, Ben Pon's loaf of bread shaped delivery van got it spot on.

    This concept is getting closer..

Why not though .. " the unique chassis concept of this EV permits the assembly of many variants using pre-existing panel forms from well established suppliers"

A parallel girder structure carrying batteries and drive train modules is mated to a unique two person reinforced crash proof cab.

An additional passenger module can be fitted behind the front crash cell.

    And so on..

Also I bet you can only use heavy duty special wheels on any EV.

Its probably one reason the ID camper concept fails. Under test it probably turns out to perform much worse than a T5 in the "crossing a slightly muddy field" test. When the tractor ripped the tow loop off the front..

A problem with a modular vehicle is having to safety test all the permutations if you are going to sell them.

And all those floppy panels will end up needing a safety cage to fit them to and so on.

    Wont happen.

Wont be able to do much modding on any EV because they are rammed full of heavy hardware. .

  12. saw a press release from canoo today - they are unveiling a pickup version of their "bus" i posted above.. and looks like they are thinking about camper versions of it too:

Looks interesting, but only 200 mile range and no word on pricing.

  13. Electric Campers are the most sensible idea to come about with electric cars id say. Somewhere to relax and kip whilst your waiting for the thing to charge up so you can do your next stint. Bit like in the film The Martian where he has to stop to recharge and gets the solar panels out. What a great way to see the world eh. spend you life driving or in the services in the hope you may actually get there at some point but the fear that you may just end up running out of juice between charges. Bet there's loads of EV charging points in the highlands of Scotland. EV for anything other that city cars and commuting is the biggest white elephant ever.
