I have two vans one lowered on the beam and one on the spindles you are on about. The one on the beam has never been any trouble (bit higher though)the one on spindles is fine now but it has been one ... thing after another, experimenting with shocks, tyres, wheels ,coil over packing bumpstops, binning the backing plates smaller wheels, catching the roll bar on bumps !!!(looks good though)

I would go with the beam

  2. i have just lowered mine over winter with adjusters . down three quaters on adjusters, left stock wheels on i put a picture up sometime . cheeeper option if you can do it yourself and you get chance to paint front beam , 200 quid for shocks/ adjuster

Instead of making these things std to 6" down, if they made them 3"up/3" down I might be interested. Having been through a bit of a journey up and down, I've come to the conclusion that the dropped spindles I had + adjusters to lift it back up an inch would have been spot on for me, but I've sold all the lowering kit now and I'm not going through all that again. :(

  5. Give it a few years steve and the companys will be knocking out lifted beams as the new craze takes hold

  6. Mine is on adjusters on the front and dropped two splines on the back I will need better shocks as the front will hit

  7. I only had one front adjuster when I got my beam so I brought another that I think is for a beetle but fits fine just takes a slightly smaller bolt anyway here is the Front all the way down and the rear two clicks don't look to low but when you stand next to the van it's loads lower [IMG][IMG]

  8. I don't get why dropped spindles are so much . It's machining and a pair of upside down joints ??

For me adjusters on front and down one spline at rear ......anymore and it becomes a pain to get wheel off or get under the thing ...... Decent adjusters mind .......

The tapers weren't even cut well on the ones I had, but were near enough the right angle not to cause a problem.
Fashion and a bit hard to replicate in your garage = ££££'s
Also the ease of fitting. No beam removal, no welding. Good design = ££'s and why not.

I had adjusters fitted to level up the van as the rear had sagged a bit. No problem with ride at all. Never worked out how to post pictures, but mine is the L reg blue & white one in Clumber Park 2013 photos.

  11. I'm sure mine is two at the back and I've changed the rear arches so I've had to dolly the return edge back abit to get the wheel on and off it works well .

  13. cant lower mine, just fitted a shiny step :p

  14. I have know idea now must be after 1 spline I think I put the one side on two to start with and had to use a big bit of wood to lift the rear arm to get the wheel on .
Must be 1 then my bad

1 spline dosen't need prising, my bad. :)

  16. How you getting on with gettibg your wheels of at 2 splines

  17. I reluctantly lowered mine as it was cheaper than raising the garage roof
Adjusters on the front and 1 spline at the back. Put the front on the lowest setting and it was awful so I had to raise it up again. Tyres only foul if there is a huge bump and its quite useable now.
