Another 3 way fridge thread

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by baygeekster, Aug 30, 2012.

  1. Didn't realise how wide the 3 way fridge was. Upshot is - it isn't going to fit down the side of the bed (well, not without taking 4-5 inches off the width of the rear set, and I'm not happy doing that) so I'm faced with the issue of finding a place for a 24" high by 19" wide fridge in a twin slider. My thoughts are that it's going to have to go behind the front seats, but I need to find somewhere to put the vent.

So my question is - what are the rules about where the vent can go? Does it have to be higher than the fridge? Can it be in the floor?

hot gases rise so the vent needs to be higher and there will be a max distance but not sure what it will be
some westy vans have the vent in the b pillar

  3. I've just looked in the dometic rm123 manual and it says it has to use the flue provided and that it can't be lengthened as it would cause condensation to buildup in the fridge.

It says that but it's arse covering, you can lengthen them a bit as in the B-pillar flue solution and they work fine - done it.

  5. I think its the smaller diameter part of the flue from the burner up that shouldnt be faffed with. It opens out into the larger diameter pipe which on mine goes straight to the external vent but on vikings and the like (Devon possibly) this goes to a flexi and then to the side of the van. must be a way of doing it.
