We went for our normal walk earlier on and managed to get a ‘Merry Christmas’ from everyone we met. Some days we can’t even get a smile.

  5. I never understand why folk dont normally see fit to say "good morning" yet dish out the Merry Christmas in bucket loads. Just one of the many things about christmas that gets my goat.

It's the fear of getting arrested for saying 'morning' and them being from that there Cockney town :)

  7. Spoke on the phone to 'our kid' yesterday , he was out walking the dogs in Roundhay park (Leeds) and the conversation was constantly interrupted with a greeting as he passed people wishing them a merry Christmas and the obvious reply .
Total contrast to down here (That London) where we were out for a couple of hours in Richmond park and not so much as a nod . When I first moved down I made the effort, now I really can't be arsed...

  13. Surely a vague nod and a "Now, then" will suffice?

  15. I walked the dogs yesterday morning and loads of people said Merry Christmas. In a Hampshire village, which counts as being somewhat south of Watford.

  16. The key word in that statement is 'village'

London village on today's stroll around the village pond solicited a 'Good morning' much to my suprise....
Rest of the time was spent watching the Herberts in groups of up to 20 wandering around totally oblivious to any pandemic issues. Best one was a group of maybe 15 from at least 3 'Henry' households (parents and kids) all huddling together for selfie . This is tier 4 , one person is supposed to meet one other outside and alone . Obviously normal rules don't apply if you're well spoken...

    And stupid

  18. Your right is different living in a village, I've lived here for 17 years and would never go back to town life.
As regards the Tier 4 rules the ability to be an idiot crosses all classes.

  19. Christ, they were in Bucks today as well - walking along side each other leaving no space to pass, so you end up in the verge as they pass. Might as well have been on bikes..........
