American TV

  1. It's just before 8am in Vegas and I'm sitting in bed watching telly (am here on a business trip, it's been hell ;) )

They don't appear to have anything like the Watershed for adverts like we have.

So far this morning I've seen adverts for Viagra, KY jelly, a Halloween night which was so graphically scary I had to shut my eyes and a medicine whose list of side effects was 3 minutes longer than the advert itself, including psychosis and suicide.

We'll have that to look forward to if the anti-TV licence gang get their way!
Travelling for work is a pain isnt it!?!?!

  3. what channel :)

  4. was in California a few yrs ago ... the tv was utter Marmitee... :p

  5. It's wall-to-wall presidential election coverage at the moment.

Managed to find an episode of Keeping Up Appearances though, can't take any more of that Romney idiot.

  6. Montel Williams is on now, advertising Pay Day loans.

I really should get out of bed and go and loaf work by the pool - it's 84 degrees outside.

  10. Bleeeugh, the American programs on our TV is bad enough, without throwing in their adverts as well!

  12. The only good thing about US telly is the Gridiron.

I'm halfway through the Monday Night Football match from this week on iPlayer, and whenever I've been to the US on business I've always been really lucky that it's been football season and I've tended to watch as much of it on TV, in bars, etc as possible while I'm there.

Some U.S. Tele is brilliant, but an awful amount is just dreadful.
When we lived there I used to crack up with some of the shows on PBS but a special favourite was The Router Show, 1/2 hour on woodworking with a router ;D
