When starting the engine the alternator lights seem to take longer to go out. They used to extinguish immediately. I have a new alternator fitted earlier this year. New 5 year Bosch battery around june. If I rev the engine a bit they go out. Any suggestions?
This is potentially very serious and nuns and kittens may die. Check your fan belt isn't twisted before starting it up again.
Don't worry about it, it's just the relay/switch being a bit slow. They all get like that. Check the fan belt just in case it's turned, slipping or shredded.
I have to give my bus a wee rev, when it first starts, to make the alternator light go out. It's been like this for years. Still charges the main and leisure batterys ok.
