  1. im buggered if i can work my head unit lol
i have a alpine cda 9855r head unit which i want to play music thru my mp3player /phone ive connected a ai net cable .one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260480810348? ... wt_1270.... i obviously connected a twin phono to 3.5 to plug into my phone

but i also have a conection on back for one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260867377080? ... 911wt_1270

i can t get any sound do i have the right cable or can anyone give me a run down on howto getsound ,

this headunit has more options than a space shuttle i have the manual but i m just stumped :arrggh:
    thanks in advance

  2. Have you connected the RCA (red and white) plugs to an INPUT on the unit or does it just have outputs for amps etc?

  3. it has 3 rca outputs which are allused goin to amps etc then their is the two conections for ainet cables , one which i bought (the first ebaylink) this goes from ainet to rca which i then connected a rca to 3.5 .
the other conection (second ebaylink ) i have just ordered is a direct ainet to 3.5
presumably the two ainet do similar things , i know its probably a click or press of a button away lol but the more i mess the more i get lost (so many blimmin settings )

the two connections are suposed to be for exactly what im trying to do just i dont get any sound ...

  4. well I'm lost too - the second link looks like a connection similar to a cd multichanger so i assume this will work correctly as an input and also allow you to skip tracks from the head unit...

  5. lol no worries well i have the second cable on order hopefully i ll have more joy with that one .. what uou say about it been a input makes sense , i m begining to think that the one i have connected is for tv or other alpine xtras .. the ironic thing is i sold my old head unit with a usb port .. which was so much easier :)

  6. The one with the RCAs cant be for a TV because there are only two plugs, the ebay listing says its for an input not an output so it should work if you find the setting on the head unit to activate it?
Is there more than one socket on the back that fits it?

  7. just the 2 dif conections as per the 2 cables ive listed from ebay .. i m expecting delivery of the other ainet cable to 3.5 today or tomorro i ll have a go with that ,in the meantime i m gonna keep button pressing to see if i can find the activation lol

  8. In theory by looking at the manual all you would need to do is select aux mode and it should work. However it may need activating, looks like it is under Menu>General>Aux. Should then be a case of selecting on or off.

  9. in theory you should be better off with the 3.5mm anyway, RCA line level is not quite the same as headphone signals although it works, impedance and voltages are slightly different so sound quality ought to be better with 3.5mm, wiring will be tidier too
