Alarm reccomendations

  1. Hi,

Since suffering an attempted break in to the van recently I'm wanting to upgrade the security, not so much for actual theft of the van (I've got a wheel clamp for that) more just so some tw@atty skag head doesn't see something sparkly and ruin my locks/handles/paintwork again trying to get in to nick a 5p coin.

I'm guessing some sort of proximity or motion detector based alarm is what I'm after, so when someone's trying the door handle vigorously the squishy suspension will move and the motion sensor will set the alarm off or at least start making a bit of noise.

Has anybody had any experience with any alarms that may be what I'm after? Do they need to be integrated with central locking/immobiliser or can I just go for the motion/proximity alarm?

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Personally, I'd avoid any kind of proximity trigger. They're notorious for false triggering, unless they've improved over the years. I've got an old Toad 101CL, which just has switches and ultrasound (turned right down), intentionally. Nothing fancy. The flashing LED is the biggest deterrent.
