alan schofield rear corners?

  1. I'm just sorting my rear corners now from schofield's and tbh they fitted fine but the quality of the panel is very poor. As Zed said I think there just a generic panel not made by them but the amount of time I'm spending trying to get the panel flat ready for paint is redic so if there are better one out there it'll be worth the effort!

  2. Ive no problem getting a panel flat for paint any marque of vehicle having new panels needs loads of prep to get them suitable for paint
    Fiberglass bodykits are even worse

If the associated doors or hatches close ok and the seams and gaps are good im a happy man ive no problem with spending time with the dolly and filler to make the surface right for paint

Persevere with the poor fit panels, they actually go on not to bad.. I slated mine at the begining but that was before I trimmed them to where I wanted them . I also ftted both battery trays the nearsdie fitted great and the corner lines up fine.. The offside was more of a chore.. having mocked and clamped everything in place it appeared that the battery tray was about 5 mm to long so just reshaped that and refitted and clamped up again .. I had to add the return edge that sandwiches between the corner piece and the wheel arch panel.
In the end it actually went together fine but took an age to line up check and double check before welding in situ... saved a few bob on the more expensive panel.. If I wasnt pused for time I would have probably made the panel myself and tweeked it for best fit, but for the price the rear corners are not that bad . Ive still got a bit of work to do on mine but there in the ball park ...

 I like to think im pretty easy to get along with, at nearly 50 I only get rattled at myself these days when I reach 50 Im hoping I have that sorted too LOL

  6. Sort the corner first then deal with the tray later

Damm it im in the wrong location to be of help to most people

  7. I agree and that's why I'm spending the time doing it but there's no getting around a very poorly pressed panel been a lot of work, we pay some good money for some of these panels and the quality is generally disappointing but we all make them work.
