ive lowered my bus with beam adjusters on the front at the mo iam running standard shocks but i want to up rate them to give a bit stiffer ride. ive been looking at the monroe air shocks http://www.monroeshop.co.uk/default.php?search=air has any one fitted anything like this on there bus iam not looking pumping my van up and down all the time like air ride kits, just thought i would be able to adjust psi in them for ride quality, and might be able to pump the bus up at the front if i ever needed to clear something the price,s vary on the site and they dont list the size,s of them so not sure which one,s to go for at the moment has anyone got anything like this fitted cheers for any help ;D
Well i thought about these , but to get the all round air system your looking a load of wonga , as its not just the shocks, you need a air tank, a control unit with manifold, and a air pump to pump the system up, about 3k +
i dont want air ride it will still be riding on the torsion leaves these shocks work as normal shocks when they have no air in them and are used to give a little lift when theres more weight in the vehicle by pumping them up which can be done with a foot pump but i was going to fit a 12v electric pump in the van no tanks here,s a link to some similar on a beetle http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=313075
Hi you lot,, there is a bit of a long thread going on about Monroes and stuff over on the earlies at the moment, might be a bit to chew on or not as the case may be Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,, Air,,,,,,,,,,,, ain`t that cheating ????? ;D ;D
Having read the EB thread, seems that the front will pump up a few inches with the wheels on the ground, but you have to jack up the rear or it'll blow seals. Therefore not much use for raising a bit on the hoof for speed bumps or rough terrain.
I was thinking about getting some air shocks for the rear of the pick up, to raise it a bit when I put the bikes in the rear. There's no need to go for the full compressor bit. You can pump the shocks up with a foot pump. Ie the rear have the pipework in the engine bay with the valve and pump up by foot or use a small tyre inflation type compressor. A mate fitted air shocks off a Volvo estate to his split screen been on there for years with no problems.
