  1. Can some please tell me what original air filter box my 1979 bay window 1.6 type 1 engine is supposed to have.
    I have an H30/31pict carb.
    Kind regards
    Simon

Your carburettor is not original for 1979. It should be 34PICT/3. So the reconditioned/replacement engine came out of a much older vehicle. Not a big deal, just a sign you can make improvements.

Its going to be an air filter with a replaceable element rather than an oil bath - there will be a bracket for the rectangular box on the right hand side rather than the circular platform the oil bath air cleaner sits on.
Definitely not a shiny pancake on top of the carburettor with EMPI or K&N written on it..

Upload a picture of what is there now...

  4. Thank for you reply Mikedjames.
I new it was a reconditioned engine but not that it's older. Didn't know about the carb either.
I'll send a pic soon as I get and you can see.looking forward to your opinion about this. Kind regards . Alice T2

  5. As above, for a '79 you need the plastic airbox with replaceable filter. The carb you should have is a 34PICT3.
