Acrylic paints and carnauba wax

  1. Old school paint benifits from carnauba wax in replacing the oils that leach out, that's a given. With acrylics being water based and I presume no oils in it, is there any advantage to using expensive, wax as the above?

  2. Good question. My paint job is going to be water based compared to two pack so I would be interested to know too

I think you might find that while the colour is waterbased, the lacquer is 2-pac.

After rooting about, I found in a n old Haynes book," Gloss in acrylic comes from the clear coating that has been applied to these paints. (Note, this does not apply to acrylic enamel or acrylic lacquer, which are "conventional" paints)".
So as you say Zeds, then yes, carnauba is still good.
