Would be nice if true but as I never paid any tax last year I can't get a refund surly but what made me think is that today was accountant day and this email arrived today bit spooky as I haven't had one of these before.
I guess it's slightly more imaginative than getting an email from a Ugandan King with the same name as you who wants to transfer their entire fortune into your account...
i got one last year and it was all done through post.... how would they know your email?? lol... bit silly... but would belovely if true! x
I got a £12 refund from last year...wow Spoilt myself with a set of clear indicators off the forum and some amber bulbs
There is an easy way to tell if an email is really from HMRC. They dont send emails. They write. So if you have an email from HMRC, it is NOT from HMRC. Simples
There are loads of these around, HMRC have an email address for reporting them to ... forward the email to: phishing@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk HMRC will never tell you about a refund by email and don't ask for your bank details in this way. If you are due a refund then unless you gave HMRC your bank details at the time you completed your tax return then you would get a cheque through the post.
I would just like to point out stupid I may be in some things but never with money so please don't worry.
