Accelorator has stuck

  1. B@lls..... my accelorator stuck down this morning & I lost all power.
After getting the recovery chaps out they said the parts which the accelorator uses as a spring mechanism will need replacing as these have worn.
I think its a metal road which has turned & made the spring pop out

Does anyone know what these might be from this vague description?

  2. Have a look at your accelerator pedal.

  3. THe pedal had stuck to the floor & the metal rod which is used as a spring below the pedal has come off the pedal itself, which I believe is the part which needs to be replaced.

Sounds like you already sussed it yourself. Do you want some sympathy?

Bad luck. :( But you could have fixed that with a bit of string/wire/missus's suspender belt (ooer).

reminds me of the time mine broke on an old landy, driving home with a piece of string through the window and the bonnet wedged open - happy days.

  6. ha,does anyone know the product name and how esay it is to fit /cost?

Sympathy would be good yes please!! haha

  7. string out of the window , been there done that , the knack is to try and change gear , drop the revs and then pull on the string at the right time so as not lose momentum . its a nasty thing losing your momentum

and as for parts have a look on just kampers under bay parts and they have some pictures with all the parts numbers on so you can see the parts you want 8)

If you have an engine hatch it's a piece of cake - don't even have to get out in the wet. 8)

A friend of mine drove round for months with whoever happened to be passenger changing gear - he couldn't reach it - broken elbow in right angle plaster.

Another friend at college commuted there every day on a Triumph Trident with his brake leg in full plaster resting on the engine.

What's the matter with the younger generation eh?

I found on my bus the accelerator pedal was being held up by the spring on the carburettor. When I changed the accelerator bushes by bodging replacement Solex bushes into a Bocar 34pict-3 with Araldite, the next morning the pedal jammed down as I started it. Scary for a moment. Out with the 3 in one oil. Drove better without air leaks and the pedal didnt stick again.

Replaced the pedal spring and replaced the carburettor with a 32/36 weber.
