Accelerator cable.

  1. Could some kind soul explain in simple terms how to change said cable. Like what end do I start with. This is the second one in less than a thousand miles. So this time I would like to do it myself. It doesn't explain much in the manuals. Thanks in advance.

Undo do it from the pedal end and pull it through from the front. Seem to remember tying some fishing line to the carb end first so that would travel through the conduit as the cable is pulled out, then tie the new cable to it and pull it through. Might need a jiggle as it goes through the firewall.
I did mine 10k miles ago and it's still fine, so worth trying to work out what's making them fray.

Rub grease into the new one. It might be catching around the firewall where the tube through the fan housing isnt pushed into the throttle cable bowden tube coming through the gearbox hanger. wiggle the tube and push it gently forwards.
Or you have a progressive carb with the EMPI bend in the cable coming out of the tube through the fan housing. Or a slot worn in the end of the tube catching the cable.
    Should last a lot longer.

Ah yes - a tip for greasing the cable without making a complete mess is to put some grease in a small plastic bag and make a couple of tiny holes - feed the cable through the holes and straight into the conduit.
