Since I'm the proud owner of my 4th transporter (a 1979 Type 2; I owned a new 1972 Type 2, a pre-owned '74 Type 2 and a new '81 Vanagon previously), it's about time that I joined this forum. Bought from a farmer out of a barn after 16 years in storage. 135k on the clock, gas heater, and, after installing a battery and putting a couple of gallons of gas in 'er, she fired up and ran nicely (until the fuel line clogged). Only things missing were a center seat floor clip and the plastic spare tire cover. Engine is out; a couple of the cooling fins are fractured and bent slightly on one head. I have new jugs and pistons but I'm not splitting the case. Working on the fuel tank now so that it can disappear behind the bulkhead with confidence that it's clean, sealed and correctly done.
