  1. Rare does not always equate to great.... Only 5 made in my opinion amounts to an idea that didnt work out

  3. Battery technology has moved on loads since the 70s so id imagine modern batteries would take up less space

Lets be honest though to keep it original its going to be a museum/private collectors vehicle rather than a practical one

How cool though that vw were considering electric propulsion back then

I reckon thats a winner... It needs to be kept original and featured in a Eccles book or something. :)

And I thought the computer for the AFC FI system looked complicated. That computer is nuts!!!

I wonder if modern technology could be applied. A friend who works for EDF had an electric Mini on test. It was mental. The power it had amazed me. It makes you wonder why they bother with that G-whizz thing??

Also loving the paint on that bus. If I could l would.

  7. Do you think they'd do a deal where they could strip the bus of all that electric rubbish before you collect it? Who on earth is going to fathom out how to sort those electrics? Poor old thing. Imagine a life like that, all that weight and stupidity. She deserves a petrol motor conversion. Other than that, the bus is only good for a museum.

  8. That has to be a first - a VW powered by battery charged semen

mileage from modern electric vehicles with new battery technology is around 100 miles so i would guess less than that? think 1970's milk floats and the battery sizes etc and you can see that this is a no hoper for joe public, the best thing they can do is gut it and fit a scooby in it, i wonder why they bought it and decided not to strip it and do it as a petrol van?

  12. If you owned this there would be a dilemma about keeping it original or updating the motor and controls to get better speed/range. You'd have to put modern batteries in it anyway which will help, then the charger may need to be different too. Could always sling a petrol generator in the back if you are worried about running out of juice.

  14. 3 steps to heaven

    1. Dig a big hole in the ground.
    2. Rip out all that electrical rubbish and dump it, before refilling the hole.
    3. Fit Scooby or Porsche engine or, if you must, a T4.

    End of.

The electrics don't look too bad standard relays and things not a computer in site
The motor could be rewound if needed.

i would get it on the road and take to the shows

  17. What about using it as a milk float? Gotta be some interest in that?
    :)
