You’r a newly appointed Chaplain to the local Barracks and you’re first duty is to attend a Passing Out Parade, followed by lunch. Instead of the buffet with the men that you were expecting, you’re whisked away with the top brass, the Commanding Officer, Brigadier and four Colonels, to a silver service service meal in the officers Mess. You are presented with a plate of posh nosh consisting mainly of meat. You are vegetarian. To eat or not to eat, that is the question ? Can't believe I did that! Didn't tell! Hadn't eaten meat for 33 years! Ate it! Felt like I'd eaten lead ball! Sick as a dog! Never again! Truly truly vile experience!!! Mrs TW felt very unwell when I picked her up at the barracks and then dropped of off at the crematorium.
She should have said "no". And if any one argued she just has to say "I'll get god on yo ass if yo make me eat dat" )
I havent eaten meat since 1988 I think and that was fish. Had been a veggie for about 5 years prior to that. Dont even think about eating it but always thought I could if I needed (or wanted) to. Bless her - must have been difficult. Vegetarianism is amost classed as a disability in the services!
