Does it matter if when a spring washer is under the head of the bolt, the head is bigger than the washer? Normally the washer would have a larger diameter than the bolt head, no?/
Usually there is a larger washer, then the spring washer and then the bolt. That is in normal world - not sure about vw world.
It's good that a spring washer is covered by the head, assuming the hole's the right size. Too big is bad. In fact spring washer generally aren't much cop for stopping stuff coming undone.
Ah well I bought new ones for the steering box to chassis bolts, theyre correct size (M10) but the overall diameter is slightly smaller than the old ones, just wondered if it mattered.....
Been thinking about this for daaaayyyyysssss. Or re-use the old ones, they still got the springiness.
Washers? Miele. End of. Bit more expensive than Hotpoint or Indesit but you pay for the quality don’t you. Happy to help
You're obsessing . Post a pic of your bolt with the new washer on it (the old ones will likely be ok anyway).
